3. To wear the brown scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel as a sign and reminder of personal consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

4. On the first Saturday of five consecutive months, with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, confess and receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary and keep company with Our Lady for fifteen minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary. ( The signed portion of the pledge form is taken to Fatima and buried near the site of the apparitions.)

At the apparition on July 13th, 1917, Our Lady said that she would come again to ask for the reparatory Communion of the First Saturdays.

In December, 1925, Our Lady with the Child Jesus, came to Sister Lucia in her Dorothian Convent in Pontevedra.
The Child Jesus spoke, "Have pity on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother.It is covered with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment and there is no one to remove them with an act of reparation."
Then Our Lady, holding her heart surrounded with sharp thorns, turned to Lucia, resting her hand on her shoulder saying, "My daughter, look at my heart surrounded with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console me and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the First Saturday of five consecutive months go to confession and receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosaryand keep me company for a quarter of an hour, while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me."
